6 Week Welcome Programme

Every learner begins here before progressing into specialist pathways, projects, mentoring or leadership roles.

The aim of Phase One

To help young people:

  • feel emotionally safe

  • feel seen

  • understand themselves

  • communicate safely

  • regulate emotions

  • contribute to community

  • discover strengths

  • build confidence

  • practise calm routines

  • learn the ‘way’ of Sparkly Schools

Daily Structure

Arrival ritual - soft landing

Examples

  • calming music

  • rainsticks

  • tea/hot chocolate (outside with chickens or guinea pigs)

  • sensory check in

  • pod ritual

  • ‘How Sparkly is your battery today?’

  • vision emotion boards

Calm, non urgent - no immediate demand

Choosing morning activity

Children select:

  • gardening

  • cooking

  • building

  • art

  • animals

  • podcasting

  • Maths

  • reading

  • nature walks

  • calm room

  • music

  • practical jobs

How they show what they have selected to do;

  • magnet board

  • digitally online or

  • app selections

This teaches:
