Because I am sick of my most favourite people - children and adults feeling ashamed for feeling too much, having too much energy, too much excitement, too many words, or just ‘too much’.
When you take even one step backwards - and actually just look at the barbaric systems we have in place - it makes the mental health crisis in our country make sense.
A system where if you are so ill you need assistance - you have to fill out a long form answering questions that require the brain energy of someone who is not ‘ill’.
A system where when you need assistance because you have lost abilities to function safely, you need to clearly and calmly repeat these needs - whilst most phone systems loop you round - send you off to a website you have visited several times, and been trapped in nonsense loops.
Children bursting with contagiously brilliant energy, being forced to sit still quietly for five hours a day, and publicly shamed when they find this too challenging.
Seeing these same sparkly children, drained, confused and lost - not believing in their own awesomeness.
At Sparkly People we recognise more and more children (and adults) are being told that their Sparkly Mind is so Sparkly that something must be wrong - we disagree.
What if THEY are wrong? What if your brain is utterly incredible but a lifetime of corrections and reprimands have led to self hate, feeling ashamed, feeling negative.
No child should be told there is something wrong with their brain.
Sparkly minds should be celebrated, not sanctioned.
Sparkly People want children to live as ‘care free’ a childhood as possible, where they just get to be a kid.
A childhood should be safe to explore, to ask ideas, to be curious, to want to move, to be given lots of different spaces where they can thrive and grow.
I am introducing a new, strength based narrative for Neurodiversity.
Keeping it simple, and positive - celebrating the strengths.
I am not a therapist nor Doctor.
Sparkly minds should be celebrated, not sanctioned.
Children’s brains are becoming more and more Sparkly, rather than attempting to ‘tame’ the Sparkle, why do we not try to embrace it?
Let it shine, let our children thrive.
With the increase of non verbal children, and increase of children who are severely dyslexic, maybe we need to look beyond words to communicate, learn and teach - we should not be deciding someone’s ‘intelligence’ or abilities, based on their ability to say or read words.
Sparkly People is accessible to everyone - no diagnosis needed.
Sparkly People have big feelings, huge.
They are sensitive to rejection or criticism - neither of those things are very nice - rather than teach people how to cope with being rejected and criticised, maybe we need to educate on how to deliver a rejection, or criticism.
Sparkly People notice things - patterns, nature, a different perspective - even if it sounds utterly bonkers…help the children explore their idea, teach them how to understand their thoughts, rather than trying to mute them.
Sparkly Minds can be extremely powerful - let us educate everyone on how to understand our emotions better, and learn how to regulate them, putting people back in control of their own minds.
✨Spark Pods are a natural grounding anchor (they are sacred in many cultures) - they can be used to help guide the holder into a simple mindful ritual to ‘feed’ the pod. There is no wrong way of doing them.
My experiences are not designed to be done long term.
It is more ‘reconnecting with what was already there’.
