A restaurant is Sparkly Approved when it helps people feel welcome, included and able to enjoy being there.

The checklist

Give one point for each quality that’s clearly present:

• Warm welcome — people are greeted by a human and made to feel they belong.

• Access information — the restaurant clearly explains what is and isn’t accessible.

• Sensory awareness — noise, lighting, busy times and different sensory needs are all considered

• Clear menu — menu, allergen and dietary information is easy to find and understand.

• Respectful service — staff treat people with patience and dignity.

• Inclusion — people of different ages, backgrounds and needs are welcome.

• Fair and clear prices — costs are easy to understand, with some choice for different budgets.

• Care for people and place — it shows care for its staff, community, suppliers or environment.

• Open to feedback — it listens and responds when someone suggests an improvement.

• A little joy — there’s something thoughtful that makes the visit feel special.
