What is a Sparkly Brain?

A sparkly brain is a way we describe brains that notice, feel and imagine the world very deeply.

Sparkly brains often see patterns others miss.

They may have big ideas, strong feelings, wonderful creativity, or deep empathy for people and animals.

Sometimes sparkly brains move very quickly.

Sometimes they focus intensely on the things they love.

Some Sparkly People also have sparkly bodies that move or make sounds in unexpected ways.

Many sparkly brains and bodies are what adults call neurodivergent.

This includes autistic people, people with ADHD, Tourette’s, dyslexia and other wonderfully different ways of thinking, learning, feeling and moving.

Sparkly brains can bring many strengths — imagination, curiosity, honesty, humour, creativity and kindness.

But sparkly brains can also become tired or overwhelmed.

That’s why Sparkly People stories are about protecting your sparkle, understanding your feelings, and remembering that being different can be something truly special.

The World needs all kinds of sparkle.
